BLUE. GREEN. PURPLE. BLACK.
It
was a pleasant Sunday evening. I was sitting in the park. I really love
going to parks. Its peaceful and beautiful and I can just sit there and
observe everything thats happening around me. I usually take my notepad
there, and try to write down my thoughts.
So,
I was just sitting on the bench admiring the pigeons when an old man,
maybe in his seventy's came, looked at me, gave me a happy smile as a
genuine gesture and sat down on the bench next to mine. It was a bit odd
because the bench on which he sat on was somewhat dirty with pigeon
waste and some spilled food, while there was a vacant place on mine. I
thought maybe he was shy to come ask me if he could sit here, or maybe
he just needed his own space.
I
wanted to look away, but surprisingly I couldn't. There was something
about this man, something that made me keep looking at him. His strong
aura kept my eyes at him.
When
I gazed at him for a while ,I observed that, he was again and again
looking up in the sky and blushing. I was confused. But I thought it
would be better to give this old happy man his own privacy, so I again
distracted myself to the greenery.
After
like 5 minutes, I saw a man selling balloons passing by in the
distance. He was coming towards my path. All the children in the park
excitedly and happily went running to him and started convincing their
parents to buy them one. As the balloon selling man came near me, the
old man beside me, got up, and started walking towards him.
"Give me four balloons please? Green, Blue, Purple and Black." he said.
"Here, that'll be 40 bucks, sir." he said as he gave those four balloons to the man.
"Thanks”,
he said gently, “Also, keep these extra 60 bucks and buy balloons to
your own children. You spend your day spreading happiness to other
children. Your children also deserve to be happy." the old man said
handing him a 100 buck note.
The
balloon man was astonished. His smile was so big at that moment. He was
so happy. It felt like not only from the physical body, but he was
happy from inside, from his soul.
After
taking the balloons, the old man did something which left me with my
mouth open. It made my heart beat so vigorously that it felt like it was
just going to pump out my chest.
Looking
up in the sky, the old man said " Hey love. Its our 50th anniversary
today. See what I brought you? Balloons for you in your four favorite
colors. I really miss you. I hope you were still here with me and we
would be sitting on that bench holding hands with your head on my
shoulder as we used to do for the past 50 years everyday. I also made
your favorite dinner. Please come if you can." And as he said this last
line, a silent tear rolled down his eye showing that he's really
desperate for something that can never happen.
"Well,
anyways, here's a little something for you. Iloveyou. I hope these
reach you to your beautiful place up there." he said as he released the
helium balloons from his hand and they went straight up in the sky
,tangling each other, carrying his love.
